You Will Need:
Shaving cream, a tray and a ball are optional
Explain to your child why it's important to learn your phone numbers. Try different techniques according to your child's learning style:
Sing the number: It can be to any tune that your child knows. E.g. To "Mary had a little Lamb," Sing, “888-4321, 4321, 4321, 888-4321, that’s our phone (cell or office) number.” Turn the phone number into a poem.
• Jumping and saying the numbers works well for active children.
• Writing the numbers in shaving cream works well for children who learn tactilely.
• Throwing a ball and saying the number works well for some children.
Although learning the home phone number is important, it is more important for children to learn the phone numbers where parents can be reached during the day.
