You Will Need:
Shallow pan or plate, Fresh carrots, Beets or parsnips, Mung seeds, Small plastic animals, Small stones
Directions:
Cut the tops off carrots, beets or parsnips leaving about 1 – 2”. Eat the bottom and place the tops on the plate with a little water. Sprinkle mung seeds in the water. Place in a sunny location. Mung seeds should sprout and the carrots and beets will grow into “trees”. Arrange stones and plastic animals in the “jungle”.
Tip:
Add water frequently. If the water gets cloudy, pour it out, rinse the pan and add new water. Mung sprouts are crunchy and good to eat. Talk about what kind of animals live in a real jungle. Have they made a jungle or a forest?
