Uncle Sam’s Federal Child Care Center is managed by Bright Horizons Family Solutions, the world's leading provider of employer-sponsored chiliadic, early education, and work/life solutions. At Bright Horizons Family Solutions, we recognize how important new beginnings are in each child's development and to each family. Our mission is to provide a caring and nurturing environment where your child can learn and develop. Our center is located in Des Moines, just steps away from the Iowa State Capital Building. Uncle Sam’s serves families who work for any branch of the federal government, as well as families from the surrounding community.

Bright Horizons Foundation for ChildrenThe Bright Horizons Foundation for Children honors its 15th anniversary with Voices of Gratitude, a digital magazine celebrating the difference our programs make in people's lives. To date, thousands of partners, volunteers, and donors have shared their time, resources, and knowledge across hundreds of communities and now serve more than 100,000 children a year through Bright Spaces, volunteering, and grants.

Get involved in our Enrichment Activities

Because knowledge is more than just the ABC's.

Infant Sign Language: Our youngest friends explore language, through this added layer to our Literacy Works program.  Learn words like "more", "please," and "all done", as children's brains are stimulated at this early age!
Music: Children of all ages have the opportunity to explore different types of music, through instruments, rhythms, and tunes.
Movement Matters: Children age 6 weeks and up experience a variety of exercises, games, and new ways to move their bodies!  A healthy lifestyle is the focus!
SMART Board:  Children aged 2 and up can sharpen their math, science, reading, and writing skills with this innovative tool that provides 21st century technology at their fingertips!
Science Rocks: Children explore different elements of science with hands on experiments, children learn about biology, chemistry, and physics in their world!
Language Works: Children aged 12 months and older explore the Spanish language and culture twice a month.
