You Will Need:
Recipe cards, divider cards for a box, recipe box for each child or family member
Have your child think about her favorite meals and foods. She may research ideas in magazines, cookbooks, or your recipe box. Then you or your child can copy the recipe (or cut it out of the magazine and glue it to the card). If your child can't copy the recipe, she may be able to write the name of the food. Your child can add it to her own recipe box.
Foods often bring memories. Talk about your favorite meals as a child. What did your mother cook for special occasions? Pass on traditional family recipes. Use the recipes to help plan menus, especially for holidays. Ask your child to choose a vegetable dish, or a bread, etc. Encourage children to help in the preparation of the recipe.
