  • Healthy Snack Ideas for Birthday Celebrations

    Leave the Cupcakes at Home!

-Fruit Tortes are bright, colorful, refreshing, and fun. If you want to add a little topping, try sugar-free yogurt.
-Pancake Cakes are another hit. When the pancakes are sugar free, stacked up high and topped with fresh fruit they look like a birthday cake.
–“Yogurt cupcakes": A fun alternative that children can create in the morning and enjoy in the afternoon. Parents will send in the materials, yogurt, fresh fruit, cupcake liners and a cupcake tray. The children fill a cupcake liner with yogurt and put the tray in the freezer. Once the yogurt is frozen the children can top it with fresh fruit
-Berries with fresh whipped cream: Take clear plastic glasses and fill half way with any mixture of strawberries, blueberries and blackberries. Top with a dollop of freshly whipped cream

    New Garden Beds!

With the warm weather brings the thoughts of Spring growth!  We are so excited to be in the process of creating a new garden bed on our Toddler playground.  The planter is currently being constructed and filled with dirt.  The children will plant vegetables and herbs in the gardens at our Well Aware event Saturday, May 18.  The children will then learn the process of growth through watering the plants, talking about the importance of sunshine, and watching them grow!  Once the vegetables are fully grown, the children will pick them to wash and prepare as a part of our healthy, organic snack options! YUM!!

Through our Well Aware program and our Staying Healthy procedures, we set high expectations for creating healthy environments and also foster positive attitudes within children towards healthy living, physical activity, and nutrition.
