Celebrating an innovative approach to learning.
Each week Bright Horizons recognizes one classroom from the thousands at our centers and schools for its innovative approach to learning. Congratulations to Bright Horizons at Harrison Park for earning this recognition for the following project.
The Kindergarten Prep class studied the anatomy of a leaf by using the microscopes and magnifying glasses in their science area. Using their Smart Board, they identified the blade, view, midrib and petiole. They used microscopes to identify different characteristics, such as stems, veins, colors and dots. The made comparisons between deciduous vs. coniferous trees. Teachers also explained why leaves change colors and fall depending on the season. Using the equipment helped set the tone for some very engaging exploration!
