Frequently Asked Questions

When does the Center close for a holiday?
The Center is open all year, from Monday through Friday, from 7:00 am to 6:30 pm, unless the B-MS Lawrenceville facility is closed. The Center is closed for all Bristol-Myers Squibb holidays throughout the year. If the B-MS Lawrenceville facility closes early or opens late due to inclement weather, the Center will close one hour after BMS closes, and open when BMS opens. If B-MS Lawrenceville closes for any reason other than inclement weather, such as the day before a holiday, the Center will close promptly at 5:00 pm.
How do I get on the Wait List for the Primary Care Program at the Center?
To be added to the Wait List, simply complete a Primary Care Application for each child who you would like to enroll(found in the Parent Resources section of this website) and return it to the Center with the $100 per family, one-time registration fee. The registration fee is non-refundable. The Center Director will contact you when it is your turn on the Wait List and a space becomes available. Availability varies throughout the year and cannot be predicted accurately more than two months in advance. Placement on the Wait List is determined on a first-come first serve basis, with priority given to families asked by BMS to transfer and eligible for the BMS relocation policy, the re-enrollment of a child due to the child's or parent's company approved leave, the enrolllment of a sibling of a currently enrolled child, and the transfer of a child from a full-time basis to a part-time basis.
May I bring my child to the Center for Back Up Care if he/she is sick?
The Back Up Care Program is intended to be used by families who typically have other arrangements for care, but those arrangements become unavailable on a day when the parent is still needed at work. The Center offers a Health and Wellness Program that is supervised by a full-time Registered Nurse; however, the Center does not provide all-day sick care for any child with an excludable or contagious illness. If your child is not well enough to attend his/her regular school or program for the day, then he/she is not well enough to use the Back Up Program at the Child Development Center.
What is Bright Horizons' process on checking the background of their employees?

Bright Horizons conducts a comprehensive background check on all prospective employees and frequent visitors. The background check consists of a county criminal record check for the past seven years performed in all counties that a person has lived, worked or attended school. In addition to the county criminal search , a sex offender search, OFAC search and a social security verification trace are also conducted. For all location employees, program licensing background checks required by the state are also performed.

Can I enroll my child for half a day?
No. The Center offers full-day care for all programs. Families enrolled in the Primary Care Program may attend for two, three or five full days per week. Part-time enrollment (two or three days per week) must be consistent days from week to week. Any requests for changes in scheduled days must be submitted to the Director in writing and will be accommodated in the order that they are received and that space becomes available. Parents may drop off and pick up their child(ren) at any time between 7:00am and 6:30 pm.
What is The World At Their Fingertips?

Bright Horizons curriculum, The World at Their Fingertips, is our unique curriculum designed to engage children in active learning that prepares them for school while helping them achieve their individual potential and fostering a spirit of community. It includes curriculum elements such as Language Works, Math Counts, Science Rocks, ArtSmart, Our World and Well Aware that cross all age groups. For more on information on our curriculum, click here.

Are all staff trained in CPR and First Aid?

All Bright Horizons staff are trained regularly in CPR, even if not required by the state. First Aid is taught as required by state licensing agency/regulations so that you can feel confident that your child is safe and receiving the best care possible at our center.

What is NAEYC accreditation?

The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) has developed standards to define and recognize quality child care programs. In order to be accredited, a child care program must meet a variety of strict criteria, including having a well-trained faculty, good staff-child ratios and group sizes, and a comprehensive curriculum, as well as meet stringent health and safety standards. The program must also provide meaningful opportunities for family involvement.

What if I’d like to enroll but the center doesn’t have space available?

We suggest you register with Bright Horizons.  You can select up to 3 locations to be registered at, including the center you are most interested in.  By registering, you are confirming your strong interest in all 3 centers.  We will add you to our wait list and you will be offered a space as soon as one becomes available.  While waiting for a space to become available at your first choice location, many families will choose to enroll at their 2nd or 3rd choice temporarily until space becomes available at the center they are most interested in.  In many centers, a child currently enrolled at a Bright Horizons location has priority over the general community so enrolling at another location will not only solve your care needs but will also give you additional priority in getting into your 1st preference.  Our goal is to accommodate families as soon as space allows.  During the entire process, we will keep in touch with you regarding your status.
