The Internal Revenue Service requires employers to include taxable benefits in your gross income and report valuation information on the W-2 for dependent care benefits. The intent is to ensure you are paying approximate taxes on daycare benefits when the fair market value is greater than the tuition you pay.
This does not apply to associates who pay the community rate (grandparents).
How can I obtain information about tuition?

What is the discipline policy?
In order to meet the child's needs, parental involvement and communication is critical. A variety of techniques are used to help children learn self-control, recognize their feelings and manage their reactions. Corporal punishment is never used in disciplining a child.
Should I enroll in the Dependent Care Assistance Plan?
Yes. It is required that each employee who utilizes the center enroll in the Dependent Care Assistance Plan (DCAP) to ensure you receive the full tax savings from this benefit. Enrollment in DCAP will save approximately $382.00 in FICA taxes.
To avoid overstating your dependent care benefits, if you have a spouse, they should not enroll in DCAP with their employer.
Associates who pay the community rate (grandparents) are not eligible to enroll in DCAP.
Is part-time care available?
At this time, only full-time enrollment is accepted.
What is NAEYC accreditation?
The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) has developed standards to define and recognize quality child care programs. In order to be accredited, a child care program must meet a variety of strict criteria, including having a well-trained faculty, good staff-child ratios and group sizes, and a comprehensive curriculum, as well as meet stringent health and safety standards. The program must also provide meaningful opportunities for family involvement.
Where can I learn more about other Bright Horizons locations?
Active full-time and part-time Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama®, Cahaba Government Benefit Administrators®, LLC, Cahaba Safeguard Administrators®, LLC, and Healthcare Business Solutions, LLC employees may use the center. Employees must have full-time status at the time of Pre-Enrollment Application submission, but may later change to part-time status. Employees must be the parent, grandparent or legal guardian of the child.
I'm not quite ready to enroll in the center but I am interested in continuing to hear about what is happening at the center. How can I get information more regularly?
We encourage any family interested in center information, regular updates and invitations to the many events we are planning, to contact us.
What is the waiting list? Is there a fee to get on it?
Yes. The waiting list a way to ensure that children are placed into the center as soon as a space is available. If there are no available spaces for your child, your child's name can be placed on the waiting list for a non-refundable fee of $25. This $25 fee will be applied to your registration fee of $100, which will be due at the time of enrollment. Our goal is to accommodate families as soon as space allows. During the entire process, we will keep in touch with you regarding your status.
At this time, there is not a waiting list in our classrooms.
When do children transition to a new classroom?
Children transition to a new classroom based upon development rather than chronological age. Teachers and parents will work together in determining a child's progress in all areas of development before a child is moved to a new classroom.
Does the center close on holidays?
Bright Horizons at Riverchase observes the same holidays as the Company.
Are all staff trained in CPR and First Aid?
All Bright Horizons staff are trained regularly in CPR, even if not required by the state. First Aid is taught as required by state licensing agency/regulations so that you can feel confident that your child is safe and receiving the best care possible at our center.
Can more than one of my children use Bright Horizons?
Yes. Siblings are given priority during enrollment periods.

What is Bright Horizons' process on checking the background of their employees?
Bright Horizons conducts a comprehensive background check on all prospective employees and frequent visitors. The background check consists of a county criminal record check for the past seven years performed in all counties that a person has lived, worked or attended school. In addition to the county criminal search , a sex offender search, OFAC search and a social security verification trace are also conducted. For all location employees, program licensing background checks required by the state are also performed.
I'm interested in applying for a job at this center. Is there someone I can contact?
The center can serve 192 children on a full-time basis. The teacher to child ration meets widely recognized national standards of quality as defined by the National Associate for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).

Does the center serve meals?
The center serves lunch as well as a morning and afternoon snack each day. Food is prepared on-site.
Can I visit my child at the center anytime I’d like to?
Yes, Bright Horizons has an open door policy. You are encouraged to visit your child anytime.
