What if I already have a child enrolled at another Bright Horizons location?

If you are already enrolled at another Bright Horizons center and would like to transfer to the new Snoqualmie Indian Tribe Child Development Center when it opens, you will just need to notify the Center Director of the center location where you are enrolled and you do not need to register for the new center.  He/She will take care of transferring your family’s enrollment, and Tribal members will have highest priority for enrolling in the new center. 

Is part-time child care available at the center?

Part-time care will not be available upon the opening of the center. 

What ages will the center serve?

The center has a capacity for 70 children and will serve children ages 6 weeks through 6 years old. 

What will the hours of operation be?

The center will be open Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. It will remain open year-round; closing only on New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Tribal Recognition Day (when October 6 is a weekday), Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day and the Friday following, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day. 

When is the center scheduled to open?

The center is expected to open in Q1 2023 contingent upon receipt of an operating license from the state licensor.

Where will the center be located?

The center will be located at 9575 Ethan Wade Way SE, Snoqualmie, Washington. The Center sits on the Snoqualmie Indian Tribe Administrative Campus in the Tribal Center building. The center has its own designated entrance with no access to the remainder of the building other than an emergency egress door for fire safety. 

What is the capacity and teacher-to-child ratio per age group?

The ratios at the center are designed to support one-on-one interactions between the teachers and children, an in-depth understanding by the teachers of the individual needs of each child, and the formulation of consistent caregiving routines based on the teachers’ knowledge of the individual children. These teacher-to-child ratios also support enhanced development, particularly language development.

**Due to COVID-19, the capacity and ratios are subject to change based on the development and implementation of new state guidelines and enhanced center protocols. 

Can I pay to reserve a space at the center without attending?

Bright Horizons will hold a space for up to one month. After one month, you must enroll your child, or the space will be offered to another family on the waitlist.

Are meals and snacks included in the tuition rate?

Morning and afternoon snack will be provided each day and are included in the tuition.  We anticipate serving lunch beginning in the summer of 2023 after a substantial kitchen design and construction is completed. 

Is there a sibling discount?

No, sibling discounts will not be offered.

What other fees are required?

In addition to the tuition, the following fees are required:

  • Registration Fee: A registration fee of $150 per family is due at the time of registration. 
  • Enrollment Deposit: An enrollment deposit equal to one month’s tuition will be due when the enrollment offer is accepted. The enrollment deposit will be applied to the first month of tuition. If a family chooses not to enroll their child after accepting the enrollment offer, the enrollment deposit will be forfeited. Tribal members receiving child care grant funds will have a subsidized deposit amount.  
  • Annual Re-Registration Fee: A $100 fee per child will be required each subsequent year to cover annual administrative and licensing fees.

The CCDF grant program can assist eligible Native families with this fee, and additional tuition expenses.

What are the tuition rates and how were they determined?

Monthly tuition rates for Snoqualmie Indian Tribe Child Development Center have been established in alignment with comparable, high-quality child care centers in the surrounding area.  The Snoqualmie Tribe has developed the following priority groupings when assessing enrollment spots:

  • Priority I – Native Families (must have a parent enrolled in a U.S. Federally recognized Tribe)
  • Priority 2 – Children of Employees of the Snoqualmie Tribe, Crescent Market, Snoqualmie Casino, Eighth Generation, and Salish Lodge & Spa
  • Priority 3 – Snoqualmie Valley Community at large

The Tribe operates the Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF) grant to assist Native families with access to high quality child care and early learning opportunities. The CCDF grant can assist eligible Native families with registration fee assistance and monthly subsidized tuition. To apply for grant funding please fill out a CCDF application from the Tribe’s website under General Benefits or email childcare@snoqualmietribe.us for a copy.

How soon can I enroll my child if on the waitlist?

The length of time will vary depending on the size of the waitlist and the ages of the children. Bright Horizons will send periodic communications to keep you informed of your status on the waitlist and will do everything they can to ensure you are offered a space as soon as it becomes available. Families may decline an offer and maintain their current position on the waitlist once. After the second decline, their name will be moved to the bottom of the waitlist.

How do I enroll my child?

Bright Horizons plans to open registration on Tuesday, September 6, 2022.  If you are interested in enrolling your child(ren), you will register with Bright Horizons through the Family Information Center.  Enrollment demand will be assessed in October and families will be contacted by a Bright Horizons representative to discuss enrollment. More information about the enrollment process will be available at the family information sessions that will be held in August.

What curriculum will be used at the center?

Bright Horizons’ successful core curriculum World at Their Fingertips, will be used at the center, with Native American culture integrated into our daily programming.  To learn more about the Bright Horizons curriculum, please visit brighthorizons.com/early-education-preschool/proven-approach.  

The Snoqualmie Tribe Culture, Environmental & Natural Resources, Education, and Childcare Programs have been working in tandem with Bright Horizon staff to develop cultural relevant curriculum that will be integrated into the Center’s core plans. The Tribe is working to expand upon and integrate the Since Time Immemorial Early Learning lesson plans focused on : exploring cultural identity and recognizing the current place and historical place of Native families and the Snoqualmie people through storytelling, song, and crafting; lessons on restoration of salmon habitats and exploring how to respectively coexist with nature and sacred spaces; the value of food sovereignty with a focus on harvesting indigenous plants; Canoe Journey, and daily immersion in the language (Lushootseed) of the Snoqualmie and Coast Salish people. 

How will enrollment spaces be allocated?

The Snoqualmie Tribe has developed the following priority groupings when assessing enrollment spots:

What are the qualities and qualifications of the teaching and care staff?

Bright Horizons works to recruit and hire the highest quality teachers. Their staff are nurturers as well as educators who encourage learning through exploration and partnership with parents. They are trained to deliver the highest standard of care. All candidates undergo a thorough screening, including a Bright Horizons enhanced background check and state-required background checks. All teachers must meet state educational licensing and additional center requirements.

What is the process to withdraw from the center?

Families will be required to provide notice of intent to withdraw 30 days in advance of the last day of attendance. 

When is tuition billed and collected?

Tuition will be billed and collected monthly. 

Will I receive a tuition credit for time away on vacation?

The center will not offer vacation credits.

How is tuition paid?

Tuition is paid through ACH and is due on 25th day of the prior month. Example: September monthly tuition will be due on August 25.

Are you conducting health screening for those who are entering the center?

Yes, all employees, parents and children will have to pass a daily health screening. The health screening includes a temperature check and a series of COVID-19 related questions that pertain to the individual and their households.

What is your current COVID-19 center policy?

The health and well-being of our families and staff are our highest priorities. In the interest of limiting the opportunity for transmission to our vulnerable community, we are taking the following precautionary measures:

Your household must remain out of the center if any member of your household has (or has been in close contact with anyone who has):

(a)  A suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19 (for example – close contact at school, work, religious service, social gathering); or

(b)  Traveled: internationally; or domestically, from any area which is the subject of travel restrictions under applicable state and local guidance.         

 

14 days after the last potential exposure, your household may return provided these three things have happened:

(a)   At least 10 days have passed since any household member first experienced symptoms; and

(b)   Symptoms have improved for any household member that experienced symptoms (for example, cough or shortness of breath has improved); and

(c)    The household has been fever-free for at least 72 hours without the use of fever-reducing medicines.

Please note, depending on the circumstances we may require you to obtain medical clearance before return to the center will be allowed.

Do Bright Horizons daycare centers follow state/local requirements for masking and vaccinations?

Where there are additional state or local requirements, for example around vaccination/masking, Bright Horizons also complies with applicable legal requirements in each jurisdiction in which we operate.

What enhanced safety measures have you implemented?

Bright Horizons is trusted by parents around the country – including many doctors and nurses on the frontlines of COVID-19 -- to care for their children. We’ve partnered with pediatric infectious disease specialist Dr. Kristin Moffitt of Boston Children’s Hospital to implement enhanced safety protocols for all areas including daily health screening, distancing, cleaning, and disinfecting. Our goal is to ensure that all of our health and safety practices in every center are in line with recommendations provided by the CDC and requirements of state and local municipalities, and have the well-being of children, families, and staff at their core. Are children required or allowed to wear masks or face coverings while at the center?

Where mandated by local state authorities children do wear face coverings or masks. In other locations Bright Horizons does not require the use of masks for children, however, at a parent’s discretion, children ages 2 older are permitted to wear face coverings while in our center. Teachers will work with these children to become comfortable putting on, wearing, and taking off their face coverings. For more information about our center’s policy, please contact us.

Are all staff required to wear face coverings and gloves during the day?

All employees will be in face coverings while working. Those conducting health screenings will wear gloves while conducting the screenings. Those undertaking disinfection activities will be wearing gloves while disinfecting. Teachers will wear gloves for activities that they wore gloves for in the past; diaper changing and bathroom help, wiping noses, first aid and cleaning. They also wear gloves for preparing and serving food. They will not be required to wear gloves all day.

Are you allowing prospective parents to visit centers?

Prospective parents are being encouraged to visit via a virtual meeting with the center director.

How does Bright Horizons ensure the cleanliness of centers?

At all of our centers, rigorous health and safety practices are a foundation of the way we care for children.

  • Both staff and children are frequently washing hands throughout the day, including when entering and leaving classrooms.
  • Food preparation surfaces, eating utensils, tables, highchairs, computer keyboards, mixed use surfaces, changing tables, and potties are all sanitized after each use by staff wearing gloves. Floors, diaper pails, countertops, sinks, fountains, door and cabinet handles, and plastic toys are all sanitized daily. Certain high-touch toys such as play-doh are not currently in use.
  • Sanitizing measures will also be applied to our playground equipment. Centers and are receiving special cleanings as needed.
  • Parents are not allowed to enter the classrooms at pick-up and drop-off. A teacher will meet parents at the door to bring the child into and out of the center. Designated staff wash or disinfect hands after escorting each child, before meeting next child.

    Can children with special needs enroll in a Bright Horizons center?

    Yes! Bright Horizons strives to and has successfully accommodated a wide range of special needs and individual differences in our group programs.  We believe in inclusive programs that attempt to meet the needs of a wide range of children and which focus on each child’s strengths. We support a collaborative team approach – the teacher, director, specialists, and parents. The team will work closely together to try to maximize each child’s opportunities for learning, growth, and development, and to attempt to eliminate any barriers or safety issues which a group program may present.

    Does Bright Horizons perform background checks on its employees?

    The safety of the children in our care is our highest concern.  Bright Horizons maintains stringent hiring practices and conducts criminal background checks on all teachers and caregivers in our centers. This check includes a criminal record search and a cross-reference check to determine prior convictions or other records of criminal activity that would call into question an employee’s’ suitability to care for children. Additional elements of our required background checks include verification through the Office of Foreign Asset Control and Sexual Offender Database Search. The frequency for updating criminal background checks for employees depends on state or other center-specific requirements.

    Are all staff trained in CPR and First Aid?

    All Bright Horizons center staff are trained in CPR and first aid.  Once an employee is hired, they are required to fulfill 16 hours of training through our new employee orientation. This training takes place over a two-day period, where the employee spends time observing each age group in the center. Teachers must successfully complete first aid and CPR training, in addition to local licensing and/or Department of Health requirements (e.g., food handler safety card.)

    What is NAEYC accreditation?

    The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) has developed standards to define and recognize quality child care programs. In order to be accredited, a child care program must meet a variety of strict criteria, including having a well-trained faculty, good staff-child ratios and group sizes, and a comprehensive curriculum, as well as meet stringent health and safety standards. The program must also provide meaningful opportunities for family involvement.

    What if I’d like to enroll but the center doesn’t have space available?

    Finding the right daycare and early education solution can be a lengthy process. Our best recommendation is to start early!   Even if your preferred Bright Horizons center doesn’t currently have space available, we still recommend registration for your first choice center.  At Bright Horizons, you can register at up to three locations. Once registered, we will add you to our wait list and you will be offered a space as soon as one is available.
