  • Our School-Age Program

    School Age

Guiding children to experience their world and pursue their interests

Our school-age program recognizes the growing physical, intellectual, and social competence of older children. Eager to explore the social world and discover how the adult world works, school-age children thrive on challenges, friendships, clubs, and responsibility. They want to make things, build things, act out new dramatic possibilities, explore computers and books, construct imaginary worlds and most important, not be treated like "little kids." Read More

What Parents are Saying

Our greatest advocates are also our closest friends.

"I'm certain that my child loves his family members. However, we may question just where we rank when you throw in Mr. Chris:) What more could a parent ask for! Thank you for the fun and love you bring and share with the kiddos each day. We'll work on stepping up our game at home:)"

World at their Fingertips

The story behind Bright Horizons emergent curriculum

What happens when a toddler tells his teacher he loves cheetahs? Or a pre-kindergarten student asks what dinosaurs eat? At Bright Horizons®, those questions spark learning opportunities and lessons in math, reading, science, art…and more. Watch the video to see teachers and parents talk about this very unique approach toward curriculum, and how a child's very own interests become the launch pad for curiosity... and a lifetime love of learning.

Geography

You Will Need:

Imagination

Directions:

First, explain the game to your child and start by naming a continent, country, state, town, street, or body of water that begins with the letter A (“Atlantic Ocean”). Then, ask your child to think about what letter that word ended with (in this case, “N”) and say a geographical location that begins with that letter, and so on. Eg. After "Atlantic Ocean", your child might say "New York," then you might say, "Kansas," etc.

Tip:

This is a wonderful game to play while commuting or on a long trip. Older children might be able to track or look up places on a map. For younger children, you can simplify the game by following the alphabet – i.e., if you start by saying something that starts with the letter “A,” have your child follow with something that starts with the letter “B,” and so on.
