Meet Our Director
Christina Cross is the Director of the soon-to-be-opened University of Maryland Child Development Center, managed by Bright Horizons Family Solutions. Christina has worked with Bright Horizons for ten years, most recently as the Executive Director of Discovery Kids Place in Silver Spring, MD, and as a Bright Horizons Field Director. She also acts as a mentor for new Bright Horizons center directors.
Christina has more than thirty years of experience in the Early Childhood field, working with children as young as six weeks. She has operated before and after school care programs, run a Montessori school, operated full-day kindergarten programs, and administered other youth programs, including summer camps for all ages.
During her career, Christina spent four years developing and obtaining grants for after-school programs and camps for at-risk youth, working closely with local police, schools and social service agencies. In addition, she has volunteered with Hospice bereavement support groups for children who have lost a parent.
Christina earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Maryland Baltimore County and a Master’s Degree in Applied Psychology from the University of Baltimore. She has attained a Level 6+ teacher credential in the Maryland Child Care Credential Program.
At the University of Maryland Center, Christina will direct Center operations and programs. In addition, she will serve as the Bright Horizons liaison to the Maryland Office of Child Care, the Maryland Excels quality certification program and the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
