  • What Elmsford Parents are Saying

    about Bright Horizons Child Care

"Thank you Nikki for really listening to the parents as far as our specific requests and communication with our children goes. My son always has a fun story to bring home about where his imagination took him today and you're always included in the storytelling!"

  • Toward a Better World:

    Helping Children Make a Difference

During the month of November, the children will be getting ready to celebrate Thanksgiving not only by reading about the First Thanksgiving but also learning about how different and yet similar we all are. We will be practicing how to work together to build a project, respecting others, and how the differences among us make us all special. In celebration of our similarities and differences and in support of our Bright Horizons Toward a Better World Curriculum, we will be assigning our first family project.
Our  family project is Family Cultural Flags. Each child is asked to make a flag that represents their family’s culture.  All flags will be put on display to represent the diversity that makes up of our center’s culture.

Toward a Better World's goal is to provide the opportunity for families to share family stories and to talk more about their family’s culture. In addition, the children will learn about other cultures and learn the importance of acceptance, respect, and tolerance.

  • Wondering what we have been up to?

    Science Rocks

Nature is bountiful. There are shapes and sizes,
colors, and textures,   smells and tastes, an
enormous variety of substances. In a world
    catalogues and consumable objects, designed
          places and programmed
    areas, sometimes it is
helpful to remember that the natural world is
    full of
    unassailingly educational
          experiences for
    children. (Greenman, 2005)

What time  of year is a better example of the wonders of nature than autumn?  These past  few weeks, the children at Bright Horizons at Westchester Executive Park have explored the changes in their environment outside and inside the classroom.  The Bright Horizons’
Science Rocks program is built upon an emergent curriculum; we plan learning experiences based on observations of the children and their interests, skills and understandings. Take a few minutes to see what and how  the children at WEP have  been experiencing autumn by visiting our photo gallery.
