Mary Ann Tocio University (MATU) is our greatest, most tangible way of reinforcing our commitment to ongoing employee training and career development. Available to all employees, MATU is a continuing education unit (CEU) granting university that includes online and offline components and interactive courses, including a wide selection of content in management development, early education, leadership skills, time and project management, and job-specific coursework.

Supporting the educational goals of our employees is also important to us. We have enhanced safety protocols including: reduced class sizes; restrictions as to who comes in and out of our centers; daily health screening and temperature check upon arrival for adults and children; masks for teachers, staff, and all other adults in our centers; and strict guidelines on distancing, cleaning, and disinfecting. Our goal is to ensure that all of our health and safety practices in every center are in line with recommendations provided by the CDC and requirements of state and local municipalities, and have the well-being of children, families, and staff at their core.
Yes, all staff and adults are required to wear a Bright Horizons provided surgical masks while working, unless they have received a medical accommodation.
We are strongly encouraging all of our staff who are safely able to receive the vaccine to do so. We offer a COVID Vaccine Reward Program that includes gift cards for Bright Horizons teachers and center staff once they are fully vaccinated. We also provide a variety of educational materials to our teachers and staff to be sure they have the information they need to understand how to safely access the vaccine at no cost.
Bright Horizons centers are filled with the sights and sounds of young, active learners! Teaching is a rewarding position that also requires hard work and dedication. Our teaching teams collaborate to create child-centered curriculum and they actively participate in all classroom activities – at both indoor and outside learning areas. Each center has specific schedules to meet the needs of the families enrolled. Depending on the position you apply for, your hours may vary. In general, full-time is an 8.5 to 9 hour day with a half hour or hour lunch break. Search for Bright Horizons teaching positions near you.
Bright Horizons teachers are the heart of our program — people with the skills, the passion, and the dedication to make early education their career. We support them with our own award-winning training, as well as with learning opportunities to advance their careers and skills through training, certificates, and college degrees.
Your career path at Bright Horizons may take many routes. Our teaching positions include substitutes, associate teachers, teachers, and lead teachers; our lead educators and instructional coaches mentor teaching teams; and our health & safety directors and center directors provide supportive leadership for employees and families. After completing your application on our careers site, a member of the talent acquisition team will review your education and experience in relation to the position for which you applied. You may be contacted for a 10-15 minute phone screening when you can share more information about your background. A 30-45 minute interview with the center director is the next step, typically completed by phone or virtually due to the pandemic. Final candidates must then complete the required background and reference checks.
If you're applying for a center or school career, be prepared to share specifics about your experience working with young children. You may be asked to describe a teacher who you consider a role model or about your experience creating curriculum in an early childhood setting.
