    Celebrating Veterans

In honor of Veterans Day we asked our preschool and kindergarten to help with a very special project.  Friends where asked to wash and dry large river rocks in their sensory tables.  Then they used the rocks as a blank canvas to paint using red, white, and blue.  At morning meeting they talked about what characteristics make up a person who is willing to protect their country.  Their teachers then helped write these words on their rocks.  We then took all four classes amazing and creative rocks and created a heart shaped rock garden in the circle out front.  A beautiful representation of all the brave men and women who sacrificed so much for us.

    Candy Collection Results

Since Halloween we have put collection stations around the center.  Any unwanted Halloween candy was being collected to send overseas to the Troops.  On Friday Dragonflies and Kindergarten did a Math Counts lesson on measurement.  First they took turns stepping on the scale to weigh themselves. They then filled buckets and weighted them.  After some estimations the results where amazing.  Our center collected 172.1 pounds of Halloween candy for the troops!!!!
